Sky City...1st time buyer.. Beware of yard space you will get a shock of your life! if you recently app****!

Me and My wife have waited years to be able to apply for a house and when we finally did and we were approved we were over the moon. God had finally answered ours prayers no more renting!!! Finally something we own!!! The Sales agent who assisted us was awesome he was with us every step of the way, he even took us to the show houses to give us an idea of how our Tuscan house will look like and an “estimate” of the size of the yard.

The house plan followed. We were sent a house plan and asked to sign and sent back as soon as possible so the process can move to the next phase, as mentioned earlier we are new buyers and we were clueless but we asked questions. My 1st Issue was with the car port, I requested the car port to be situated towards the back or the side of the house as it doesn’t make sense to have it in the front I was advised that won’t be a problem. Just to be told later via email.. “Hi The carport can only be placed in front, please sign attached placement and send it back urgently. Regards”. But hey we were cool with it I mean we getting a new house and based on the show houses we were shown and the estimates that were given having the car port in the front won’t be that bad.

We than signed the contract, what followed was silence no more contact from Cosmopolitan. A few months passed so we decided to head to skycity to view the progress of the houses. We were assisted by a some gentlemen at the show houses on how to read the map to give us an idea of where our house is, but at the time our house was not build yet, however some of the other houses were up so we had a look around and we were happy with what we saw. The yards were fairly big and the houses were nicely build. Fast forward a few month later (today to be exact) we went to pay my child’s registration and stationary fees at the school and decided to head over to our house to view the progress. Ive never been so shocked in my entire life! When I arrived there were guys building the wall and other tilling the floor. The house itself is nicely build but there is literally NO YARD. LIKE NO YARD AT ALL. THERE IS LITERALY NO YARD. I HAVE 2 CARS AND I WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE IF I NEEDED TO. I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE IN RDP HOUSES THAT HAVE A BIGGER YARDS THAN MINE AND I HAVE A BOND OF R580K. im not exaggerating when I say the cottage im renting at the moment has more yard space than the place I bought and im not even sharing the yard.

Worst part of it all is that the houses opposite me with the same house size has 3 times the yard space as me. And when I asked why I wasn’t given the option for the same yard space at least I was advised cosmo decided that after a certain date all houses less than 60 square meters will automatically get 200 Square meter yards. I guess im stuck with this house with no yard coz I signed. But I have advised my colleagues who were interested to stay far away from COSMO and SKY CITY.

Just a tip. At least have show houses with the same size of what people are buying for so they can have an idea instead of tricking them with Estimates.
