I'M A 25 YEARS OLD LADY WHO IS ABOUT TO BE HOMELESS BECAUSE OF COSMO'S NEGLIGENCE AND LACK OF COMMUNICATION- ONCE YOU SIGN THOSE PAPERS THEY DON'T CARE!

I am a 25 years old lady who moved to Sky City in May 2021. Upon being made permanent at work, I decided to look no further for a house than Sky City. I made an application for a house in October 2021 and I was told the type of house I wanted was sold out, however I was going to be put on a waiting list. In January 2022 the manager of Sky City Cosmopolitan projects contacted me to inform me that she found a stand for me. We submitted my application and in no time some banks approved. In April 2022 I then went to sign for the house with the attorneys.

Towards the end of April I informed the manager of Sky City Cosmo projects that where I am currently renting ( The Bronx), they said I must put in a month's notice if I am going to move out, otherwise I will forfeit my deposit. She then said to me that I must put in that "Month's Notice" to say that I am moving out because DEFINITELY middle May or end of May I will get the keys to my house.

I took her word for it because I couldn't even go to the site to see how far the progress with the house is because I was told we are prohibited from going on site with construction happening. I believed her when she said I would get the keys before end of May because when I asked the other agents about when the house would be ready, they said I should ask her since she is able to check on the system and she is the only one with that kind of access.

The manager did not even bother to follow up with construction to see if it would still be possible for me to move while there was still time. Perhaps I could have been able to revoke the termination of my lease here where I stay. I am the one who followed up with her on Monday the 16th of May 2022 to ask if there's any progress to my house and when I would be moving, and she ignored my messages for two days until I sent her a voice note to say that I will call her that day since she wasn't answering my messages..

When she finally responded, she said she HOPES I will get the keys middle of next week and IF I get the keys I will move in during the weekend. I got very anxious when she used words like IF and I HOPE cos now it seemed like she wasn't sure and yet she told me to put a notice to move out where I currently stay.

I went to the Sky City Cosmo offices yesterday and the agent who once helped me before took me to the site to see my house. The house is standing however, it is still incomplete. The agent told me it does not look like it will be possible for the house to be completed by end of next week. Perhaps it can be ready by middle June to end of June.

I then wondered what would have happened to me if I had not followed up. When was the manager going to inform me about whether I'll be able to move or not.

I went back to where I am currently staying and I asked if I can extend my lease with another month and I was told unfortunately I can't. My unit has already been rented out and there aren't any units available for me to move into. I am not from around Ekhuruleni, home is very far and I have no one around here. I literally have nowhere else to go because of Cosmo employees negligence....

I was also told I would be informed about the progress of my house in stages. No such communication was done. The last time I went to my stand was when nothing was built on the land and yesterday when I pushed to go see the house for myself to see if it's truly ready for me to move in.

The manager seems to be so unbothered by the fact that I am basically going to homeless by next week because of her. She is still talking about IF and that she is HOPING. What is going to happen to me if I truly can't move by next week? I am a young lady who is alone and is scared for her life during this time where GBV is so rife. I can't go rent at places I'm not sure of because I have been inconvenienced by people who were supposed to make my experience of buying a house pleasant.

I don't have money to pay for a deposit and rent at other closest apartments. What will I do? I now only have 4 days to find a place to stay because I am extremely busy during weekends. I don't even know where will I go and they don't seem to care!

Also I hope the house the agent showed me was the wrong one cos it is definitely so small for a 70m square house that I bought. I have been to the show house where the house was a 70 m square and it wasn't that small.

My advice to anyone trying to buy a house at Cosmo. Don't get carried away with the excitement of buying a house. Take your time and read all the reviews here and then decide if you still want to buy a house at Cosmo.
