Disheartening housing issue
It is with great disappointment that I have nothing good to comment regarding the services received from Cosmo since moving into my house. Yes, we do have a 3 months retention however in the incidence where within that very retention one notes that what was being done by the contractor is unsatisfactory and will result in similar problem arising yet the clients opinion and objective is in total disregard. I have had contractors come by several times ("Tshepo"- Capital View) that I have mentioned the temporary fix they do in particular to cracks, toilet, sink leakages will result in the problem resurfacing and to be deemed my problem in less than a year, however I was assured in writing that whatever I am not satisfied with and should it become a problem once more we will come sort it out. I also took the liberty to complete the retention forms stating my dissatisfaction, it is thus unfortunate that today they turn a blind eye giving reasons that at the time they were told or warned about. It becomes disheartening that now they play "dodgeball", is it fair for someone who must pay their bond for 20 years dealing with errors that could have been avoided? To clients it seems like we are given the ear just until the bank pays them the final payment then from there you will swindle from pillar to post. There is also an issue regarding their slopes, which in my case it’s unfortunate that being disabled with residual pain I can’t access my yard freely, yet in the building contract signed it states exactly how it would accommodate wheelchairs to a certain level yet mine is a complete different scenario. I have complained about this issue since December 2020 to date, I am giving reasons that have contradicted the contract that I have that was meant to have been approved by NHBC "Lohan's" report clearly showed that none of that has been taken into consideration, That matter also became my sole problem, from the onset I was told it doesn't fall under retention, then finally "there is nothing we can do". Apart from the subordinates designated by Tumi and others to my house there has been several that came to attend to other problems that also agree that these problems are solely the contractors problems that should have been dealt with without any heartache brought to the client. I do believe that one should not be put in an unfortunate state just because some errors where ignored even when we voice out at the time. We are often left with promises such as "you still have 12 months, or should the problem arise we have noted it down we will come attend to it", transparency and the willingness to listen to clients as far as taking the concerns into consideration should be of utmost importance. In this regard referring clients is a "NO", if the workers themselves can’t vouch for them, how do we? The very people that where sent to my house have shared their personal thoughts in this regard hence, I have no words whether to say "disappointed” would be an understatement. It's sad that many of my colleagues are interested however I would not want to be the one to be the example of what an unfortunate choice that can end up being. Regret is there however, as an engineer myself I would not be held liable for bad advice. I do hope that my cry would ultimately be taken as a prime importance.
