Developer won’t pay for vacant land charges from COJ

I bough a house in the new estate called Lionpride Lifestyle Estate built by cosmopolitan and central development. I was shocked when I received my first municipal statement from COJ. I was been charged for vacant land rates which are absolutely Mad expensive.

I told the developer about this and was told it would be fixed. After a couple of weeks without any action from the developer, I decided to take action myself and fix their mess.

I had to run around COJ offices to have my house removed from vacant land to residential, which was done and the rates went down. However, the charges for vacant land still remain on my account and are gaining interest and COJ is now handing over my account.

I and some residents of the estate have tried numerous times to engage with the developer to have this sorted, but to no avail. We cannot be stressing about such after just moving in our homes. We want peace of mind. I will be now sending an email directly to the CEO of cosmopolitan and writing to the ombudsman. This is ridiculous I need this sorted out. I did not buy vacant land, but bought a residential home.
