Worst Customer Service

Coricraft Receives the Award for the Furniture Store With the Worst Customer Service in South Africa

Firstly, I will forever associate the distinctive smell of Coricraft stores with the vile stench of corporate greed. Just some advice to any potential buyer, if you purchase from any Coricraft store in the future, before you take ownership of your overpriced piece of furniture, please make sure that there is no damage to it. According to their statement, you should unbox items and assemble items in their parking lot. If you do not go out of your way to do a full quality check on their behalf, you might be at risk of literally throwing away your hard-earned money.

Secondly, at no point was I ever asked to open and assemble the item to ensure there is no store or transport damage. I recently collected a piece of newly bought furniture from their Stormil Warehouse. As a result of an exceptionally busy work schedule, I was not able to open the box until a week later. When I unpacked this ********* company’s box, I found that the new item was severely damaged. I repacked it immediately and got in contact with Coricraft, I was expecting them to apologize and rectify the inconvenience they caused.

To my utter surprise, this is the reply from Coricraft:

“Good day Clearwater,

Thank you for getting in touch.

We have received the complaint logged in your branch however this complaint will be rejected due to the customer collecting the unit and this looks like transport damage, the complaint was not lodged within 7 days.

We will be closing this ticket, should you have any queries you are welcome to respond to this mail and the ticket will be reopened automatically.

Thank you“

I phoned Coricraft immediately as this is an unacceptable response. I was then asked if I collected the item, or was it delivered by them? – I calmly informed the person that I collected from their warehouse. Her response was if I collected and signed the delivery note, they take zero responsibility for the damaged item. You don’t need to hire a world-class private investigator to determine it was dropped by their warehouse at some point. The person also pointed out that if the client did not unpack, and check if the item is damaged, they cannot take ANY responsibility after you leave their yard. They should put up a clear sign at the gate asking clients to literally unbox a sealed box and inspect every single piece of the new dining room table or bedroom set in an open parking lot? – Oh, wait, apparently, in their terms and condition, that was by the way never explained to me, this is exactly what Coricrafts expectation is. In most first-world countries, it’s a legal requirement to make sure the clients know about and understands the terms and conditions of the sale.

I understand that people take chances but we patiently waited for 3 and half months for our product, we did not damage it, not while transporting or anytime thereafter, and this is the disgraceful service we receive from Coricraft. What joke! Remember this complaint, buy at your own risk, you will wait for months and possibly end up with expensive firewood.

Lastly, Coricrafts greediness and unfair policy in favor of nothing but their establishment have cost them a client. Not only will I be an active advocate against their immoral behaviour, but I will also use every available opportunity to warn potential clients of my experience. I will showcase this piece of spoiled furniture in a high traffic area and put up a luminated sign explaining exactly why we have a damaged piece of furniture. I will make sure that every person who sees this table knows how these ********s operate.

Thank you Coricraft for an expensive, damaged piece of worthless furniture. I hope you enjoy your award for the worst furniture company in South Africa, arguably the world.

Penny wise and pound foolish.

Dear Steven R,  Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your damaged console table. We are so sorry to hear that your console arrived in an unfit state.  We encourage customers to inspect their purchase before leaving our collection depot, as errors and damages cannot be rectified after you’ve left. We note on all our invoices that you must check your products before leaving and we have a bay on our premises to enable customers to do so. Our staff are trained to unwrap and assist you with this process.  We have reviewed our camera footage of your collection and the product was in good order on loading. Based on this, it is likely the damages were incurred during transit after leaving our premises. We unfortunately cannot exchange the product for you.  Please do you remember that we offered delivery service, which includes insurance for any damages incurred as well as placement in your home and assembly where necessary.  Yours in design,  Ruth Customer Care Support Team
