Unacceptable service with failed delivery

Coricraft Group is currently providing the most horrific service and changing their story every time I speak to them. I ordered a couch in NOVEMBER 2020 from Coricraft Design Quarters in Johannesburg. They told me that I will wait 8 weeks for my couch to be ready for delivery due to the current backlog caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. I accepted the waiting period and Coricraft indicated that my couch will be ready for delivery in January 2021. Early in January 2021, I followed up on my order at Coricraft Atterbury in Pretoria, the consultant together with myself searched on my system to see when I can expect y couch. The Coricraft system indicated that my couch will be ready on 21/22 January 2021. The week of expected delivery, I once again phoned Coricraft Design Quarters to follow up on delivery and make the necessary arrangements to be at home when delivery takes place. The order was delayed and additional excuses made, the consultant indicated that according to the system my delivery is expected either the 1st week of February 2021 or 2nd week of February 2021 due to the closure of the factory which was never told to me as the customer in the 1st place. That is already unacceptable. I made the necessary plans to sell my couch I had during the week of 21/22 January 2021 when Coricraft indicated my order will be ready. I have not had a couch since then which is an inconvenience to me and everyone that lives with me (two other household members). The 1st week of February 2021, the Coricraft consultant phoned me again with unacceptably bad news. “The fabric of my couch only arrived in the last week of January 2021 and they will only start manufacturing my couch now which will take a minimum of 8 weeks from now”. This is UNACCEPTABLE and according to me, I received false information from Coricraft during the entire process to date. I was told that my couch will be ready in 8 weeks of my order in November 2020 and paid a deposit which Coricraft currently sits with and probably earning good interest as they only received the fabric for my couch now. My expected delivery will now be the 1st or 2nd week of March. 18 weeks of waiting for my couch after I was told only 8 weeks. I will not accept this and will escalate this until I receive the satisfactory response and my demands are fulfilled.

Coricraft has the following simple options to satisfy its patient customer: 1. Not negotiable – I insist Coricraft to deliver a couch I can use until my couch is ready. This needs to happen before the end of this week which is 5 February. Two days for this delivery to happen. This is probably the easiest arrangement to make by Coricraft. According to Coricraft, they do not borrow any couches during waiting periods anymore and do not have any stock to borrow at the moment. This is unfortunately extra ordinary circumstances which is unacceptable and Coricraft should just make a couch available. A couch can be borrowed from one of the show rooms, Coricraft, you are welcome for me thinking out of the box and solving your problems. If this is done, then I do not have ant other demands I am happy to wait for my order. 2. Should Coricraft not want to borrow one of their own couches, then they are welcome to either rent a couch for 8 weeks from a supplier or pay me to rent a couch. 3. I paid a deposit which Coricraft sits with and earning interest. I would have invested the deposit into shares with returns of a minimum 60% in the last 10 months. These returns can be paid into my account for the loss of investment from my side. Alternatively, my deposit can be paid back to me, my couch will be delivered in 8 weeks, and I will then only pay the deposit together with the outstanding balance at a time period I feel is reasonable. 18 weeks post my delivery. This is exactly what Coricraft is doing to me. 4. I have two tenants living with me in my property and paying rent for a fully furnished house. Due to the fact that I do not have a couch for them to sit on and accommodate guests, I had to reduce their rent until my couch is received. This is a loss of income for me and will be for 3-4 months. Can I please ask Coricraft to refund me for this loss of income? I am planning to submit a big order at Coricraft again despite the inconvenience caused by them so I will insist on discount for that order and Coricraft should at a minimum comply with my request number 1 mentioned above for still being a supportive Coricraft customer. I am looking forward to your feedback during today, 3 February 2021. Thank you. Morne Kok
