Shocking quality of products and service

In July we spent around R100 000 at Coricraft Design Quarter to furnish our new house. The upholstery of the 2 Bianca couches that we received was so bad that the foam below was pulled tight at some sections and looser at others, making the finish “wavy”. The couches were also rock-hard and so uncomfortable – nothing like the one we tested in the showroom. We sent them back and also sent 2 dining chairs back as they were dirty.

The desk we ordered was out of stock at the time of delivery and we were promised delivery a month later. A month came and went and we had to beg and threaten to eventually have it delivered.

When the 2 new couches arrived, the cover on the 2 seater was too big and had extra fabric on it. Both covers were creased so badly that I bought a steamer to try and make them look presentable. Exactly what you want to have to do with your new couches that you spent a fortune on.

One of the 2 replacement dining chairs we received was damaged on the leg – so they sent us a damaged chair to replace a damaged chair. On closer inspection, we noticed that 5 of the 8 dining chairs we had originally ordered had one shorter leg, so when the chairs stood next to each other they sloped sideways.

I asked for a refund on all 8 dining chairs and they were collected on 17 October. 2 weeks later and after letters to the National Customer Service Manager and his 2IC I still haven’t received my refund for the dining chairs.

1. 2 Sub-standard couches received and the replacement couches received in their place had extra fabric on them and were very creased. Fortunately this was resolved quickly, thank you.

2. The desk we ordered was out of stock and we were promised delivery a month later. A month came and went and we had to beg and threaten to have it delivered

3. 2 Damaged dining chairs were replaced with another damaged dining chair and all 8 were eventually sent back as 5 of 8 had short legs

4. Had to beg and threaten to get my R13 000 refund and 2 weeks later it still isn’t in my account.

As a life-long customer of Coricraft, I so regret walking into that store. The quality of the products have deteriorated substantially over the years and it seems that nobody checks the products before they get on the truck for damage. Their favourite excuse for delays in delivery is that they weren’t happy with the quality of the product in the factory and they had to remake it – absolute nonsense when you consider they still deliver sub-standard and damaged goods. Perhaps they are trying to cut costs and are cutting corners to do so?

As for service, I am completely shocked. I had the National Customer Service Manager apologise profusely, yet I still wait for my refund. I am now forced to turn to social media, which is sad for me.

We apologise for the poor service and product . We have resolved the problem that caused your refund not to be paid as promised and the transfer will be done today.
