Shedding Carpet

I have previously purchased a fawn colour carpet about a few months back. I have found that the lighter strands of fawn which gives a rich contrast between the dark and light fawn....my issue is that all the light strands have come loose. Now I'm sitting with a dull looking carpet. Is this normal.. .
