Nearly a Decade of Loyalty Lost: Coricraft Montana Chair – Poor Quality at a Premium Price
The following is my response to Coricraft George, which summarises my experience
"My wife owned a Brenton 3 Seater and Daybed before we married in 2015; we later sold the Daybed and had the Brenton restored with new covers and foam. Coricraft has always struck me as durable, long-lasting, and good value, which is why I bought the Montana Desk Chair (originally R5000, 50% off) in July 2025. I returned it in March 2026 after realising the leather-like material was low quality. For an office chair that is valued at R5000, I expected it to last far longer before needing restoration.
I am disappointed that you describe this as "material wear is not considered a manufacturing defect", and "surface wear" from everyday use in less than 9 months - it rather reflects poor quality material and workmanship. Would you be pleased if your expensive office chair needed restoration this quickly?
Your email only addressed two of my four concerns:
The gas cylinder is flat - I constantly had to pump it up. Does Coricraft expect clients to replace these every 6 months? The armrests began fading within 3 months - this is poor quality, not normal wear and tear. The leather-like material scratched far too easily. My old leather couch (not Coricraft) lasted over a decade under much harder use. Most concerning: the leather-like material on the seat is coming loose from the foam.
This is not a chair I want or will bother repairing, so I won't be collecting it. My advice is to discontinue this model, as it damages Coricraft's reputation for quality. My expectation is still to receive a refund."
