Language Oppression

Went to buy furniture at coricraft in Nelspruit and upon my arrival there I'm welcomed by there staff member (whose african) as we speak he insists that our communication should be in English because "that's professional" and I ask him why and replies by saying "its company policy" this obviously baffled my mind and couldn't understand. So I requested the manager to explain this company policy, I lady appear who is said to be the manager and arrogantly rep**** "if you can't speak English then we can't assist you"

now at this day and age we still meet such behavior to be told that only English speaking people can be help at a public shop, what's the point of having multiracial staff and insist that all your staff should address your customers in English because it's professional?

i would really like to know the reasoning and thinking behind such an approach from coricraft (finally may this not be deduced to race and ******, that she not the aim of this) my article is not about ****** but poor customer service insisting that you address your clients only in English and very backward and inconsiderate and it's not professional and you and convinced yourself that way.

thanks

Mxolisi Siwela

We apologise for the poor experience that you had in our showroom. It is not our policy to insist on English being spoken .
We will look into the matter.
Kind regards,
