Slowest Screen Repair Apple

Why is it that when you try to adhere to process, use the apple approved guys to repair a screen which is not only more expensive, does it take over a week. Its easier to replace a stole or lost phone then to get a screen repaired which takes the time to get a coffee through iFix? Not the greatest experience I've ever had with Apple - lets hope the job is better than iFix or even the corner vendors at this price - when i eventually get it.
