R12000.00 quote to repair iPhone X which is supposed to be Water Restistant.

I spilled water on my desk and it ran over my 12.5 month old iPhone X which caused the screen to flicker and go black. Apple Waterfront are now quoting me R12000.00 (+/- $1000.00) to repair it with the only description being "Device is drawing very little Power. Unit out of warranty"

I am shocked and sorely disappointed in their lack of customer service and product support especially as the device was sold as certified water resistant as per below: "The iPhone X is designed to be waterproof up to 1 meter or approximately 3 feet. The iPhone X has rated IP67, meaning that it is completely dust-resistant and water-resistant when submerged at a depth of 1 meter or less." My desk is hardly a meter under water.

The device also has ZERO damage to it which could result in water getting in.
