Apple warranty a joke

I purchased an apple iPad Air last year September and it has not lasted a year the screen started flashing consistently and the battery heated up . I took it in to apple in pavilion westville Durban and they immediately stated it can't be repaired they will order a new one no questions asked . My problem is that according to them my warranty for the new one ordered will expire in September the date of the original purchased ipad which is absurd . This is not a case of negligence or over use as the store saw for themselves the condition of my ipad was immaculate I ve really looked after it and even then it didn't last a year . I chose Apple as they are supposedly the best . Such an expensive item and it doesn't even last a year and then to be told that when i recieve the new one to replace it that the warranty remains from the original ones purchase date is a blady joke . The new one should carry a whole new warranty further more apples warranty in general should be the duration of the contract period how can a contract for two years have an item with a warranty for half of that . Apples warranty contradicts thier claim to produce the highest quality product that much is clear
