APPLE SOUTH AFRICA DISTRIBUTOR CORE GROUP’S APPALLING SERVICE
I took my MacBook Pro into Core Group, Apples South Africa distributor on 10 July 2018. The laptop was booked in and I was told it would be a few days before I heard back. On the 13th it was in diagnostics and on 14th it was in “progress status”. I then received a quote for R8k that was unintelligible — referred to a battery case and to a right arrow button. Eventually after countless emails and calls, I was told that the battery case needed to be replaced in order to fix the right arrow key. OK, so no surprise I don’t need a right arrow key for R8k so I said I don’t want to go ahead with the repair, but put it all back together and send it back to me if that is all that is wrong.
Days go by, more unanswered emails and calls. And then, I get another quote, this time, the SSD needs to be replaced for R7K. What choice do I have. I complain bitterly and tell them I want the old unit back for indepdendent testing. I give them the go ahead reluctantly.
And then, as you might expect, we get back into the same old grove, unanswered emails, calls etc. Eventually I get a response. The response complains that I haven ‘t authorized the repair, notwithstanding that the email thread contains my authorization.
So now, I am waiting once again.
Shocking service. I wonder if anyone cares about the damage that this kind of experience does to a brand?
