Poor customer service and the sub-contractor ring around

My experience trying to sign up for Fiber has literally been the worst customer experience I have ever received.

I tried to sign up over a month ago, using google autofill to complete forms - so it was nigh on impossible to get my own details wrong.

On signing up I was told I would be contacted by an agent to conduct an installation - despite the fact that the line was already routed into my house and fitted with a connection box, therefore all that was needed was the router and the line to be activated.

The first contact I had with anyone was a full two weeks after that, by an agent from a company named MCT. After enquiring what installations actually needed to take place, the agent could not inform me - other than that the agent needed to be dispatched. Rather than question it - I decided it would be best to just book an installation rather - however the agent then proceeded to ignore me for a further two weeks.

When I reached out to the agent - he told me that his company no longer had to do the installation. He could not tell me why, nor had he contacted me to tell me as much - only that I now had to deal with a company named SADV.

At this point I have now been passed from Cool Ideas, to Dark Fiber Africa (Fiber provider in my area), to MCT to SADV - so I reached back out to Cool Ideas to ask what was happening.

Cool Ideas then could not provide me with any details as to where my application was, what the current status was and spent a full day before contacting me again.

On contacting me again, they told me that Dark Fiber Africa had tried to both email me and call me, but could not reach me - which I had not received a single communication.

Cool ideas then said to me - via email - that I had provided incorrect details and there was nothing they could do for me. Despite clearly having my correct details.

In summary my experience was being passed from one supplier to another in an ever-extending chain where ultimately their response was that I should just cancel my account rather than finding a solution.

I am typically a very patient man, but this has been the most infuriating and frustrating experience I have had in an exceptionally long time, matched only by the home affairs office losing my ID.
