Gave notice ONE DAY late and still expected to pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I gave notice to cancel my service and, according to them, I was ONE DAY late. As a result, I am now expected to pay around R600 for internet services that I have not even used.
At this point, it is no longer about the R600, it is about PRINCIPLE. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Expecting a customer to pay for a service they are no longer using simply because of a one-day technicality feels completely unreasonable and unfair.
What makes this even worse is the way this has been handled. I have been repeatedly harassed for payment through emails, text messages and phone calls. Every time I respond and try to explain the situation, I seem to be dealing with a completely different person who knows absolutely nothing about the history of my account or the previous communication. I have to explain the entire story over and over again.
To make matters even more ridiculous, I cannot even access my own account to make the payment they are demanding from me!
The systems and customer service are incredibly poor. There seems to be absolutely no continuity between departments or staff, and the customer is simply left to deal with the consequences of Cool Ideas' broken internal processes.
And let's not forget that the internet service itself was far from impressive. The connection was regularly poor, yet when it comes to cancelling, suddenly every technicality is enforced to the letter and the customer is chased relentlessly for money.
This has left an extremely bitter taste in my mouth.
A company should care about doing what is fair for its customers, not just finding ways to extract another payment from them. I have been a customer, I have paid for their services, and I expected to be treated with some basic fairness and respect.
Cool Ideas — your handling of this situation has been absolutely unacceptable. It is not the R600. It is the principle, the poor systems, the lack of communication, the constant harassment for payment, and the complete lack of accountability.
Very disappointing. I certainly would not recommend Cool Ideas based on this experience.
We understand your frustration regarding the cancellation notice period and would like to provide some context as to why this requirement is in place.
