Forced price escalations

On friday 31 January 2020 I received an email about a price increase for my internet service. On monday 3 February 2020, the next business day, I submitted a formal notice to cancel their services at the end of the month.

I have already submitted their hardware by dropping it off at their premises but I am being told that I did not provide a full calendar month notice and therefore I must pay for the month of March 2020 which includes the escalated price.

I have called in numerous times and emailed to no avail, Cool Ideas clearly thinks they can force me into this escalation. I was told explicitly by one of the consultants that I should have submitted the cancel request on the 31st of January 2020 even though that's the day I received the notice and completely ignoring that I would first have to adjust my budget to determine if I can afford the increase or not.

I am appalled by how this matter has been handled from the timing of the notice of price escalation to the refusal to accept that I can no longer afford their services and effectively trying to force me to pay even after I have delivered their hardware.

***** tactics to force people into escalations... very disappointing
