Fibre ISP switching is broken

This review is not solely focused on CoolIdeas as such but includes Vumatel. This whole debacle started because I wanted to switch ISPs on an already 2-year-old fibre installation. It seems like the process for switching ISPs on an existing installation seems to be not so well comprehended.

If you compare this coming from an ADSL world, where you paid your line and your ISP as separate entities, it meant you could switch ISPs or belong to multiple ISPs at the same time if you so wished. It seemed like the way fibre was done with everything bundled into a single package and somehow giving the ISP control over ownership of the line is counterproductive to the reality fo the situation. What is the reality, I paid for the installation so the last mile technically belongs to me, I pay in my package apart to line rental to Vumatel, so much so that when Vumatel raised the rental I get charged more, so as such whilst I paid my rental that part should also be in my control, so much so that if I want to have to fibre providers and pay line rental twice I should be able to do that.

This is not what happens thou, this process is set up in such a way that the consumer has zero control over the line and are at the mercy of the ISPs first release the line at the end of notice term, then wait for re-provisioning and then acquisition by the new ISP. All of this takes anywhere from a week to two weeks because of no one really takes ownership of the process, on one side is the party you leaving so they don't care about you anymore on the other side is the party that takes their money long before this process is done, and in the middle is Vumatel who says they should be neutral in all of this and the ISPs process.

I don't care how you came up with this process, whoever did is not the smartest person that could have done this. Eventually, after countless time and money spent over a week now having to orchestrate 3 parties to do a simple thing, and not faulting the ISP either cause they are just operating in the framework provided, I can irrevocably say to Vumatel that this process is not the way it should be done...and reading the other reviews for al the ISPs here mostly being 1 star, can say that this is the cause of all your bad reviews. It is only going to get worse the more people get fibre and want to switch ISPs, fix this process and give the line back to the consumer since they are paying for it...
