Legit but word to the wise...don't buy the Import option phones around the Festive Period

3.5 stars for me.

So I'm about a year late on my review and this might end up being an essay so not for the faint of heart...

Anyways, my experience with Connected Devices goes something like this...

Last year during Black Friday weekend I was looking to buy a phone. Looked at the options from Takealot and Incredible Connection. Massive Samsung fan so was looking for a Samsung and since my old phone was a dual sim phone I was looking for a dual sim phone.

Unfortunately all the Samsung's a available on Takealot and Incredible were single sims and the only other options in my price range was the Huawei P20 lite dual sim that was on offer for about R5 - 5.5k I think (not too sure).

Googled dual sim A8 Samsung's and the option from Connected Devices popped up. Took a look at it and it was R6 500.00.

So I thought to myself that for an extra R1.5k I can get a better phone.

Looked at the reviews and they seemed legit so I placed and paid for my order (Black A8) on the 7th of December 2018.

3 days later on the 10th of December their website showed that the Black A8 was out of stock so I got a wee bit worried...

They then contacted me on the 21st of December saying that the supplier doesn't have a Black A8 and if I was willing to accept a Gold A8 they would order that for me. I asked when would their supplier get stock of the Black A8 again. They said in about a month's time.

I wasn't going to wait more than 2 months for a phone that I paid for on the 7th of December just because it wasn't the colour I wanted (and anyways I could just buy a black cover). So I agreed to the Gold A8.

On the 28th I emailed them asking when can I expect the phone they said that they had to place a new order after I confirmed the Gold A8 and therefore will have to wait till the 9th/10th of January.

Then on the 31st of December I got an email at 10:44 AM saying that they tried calling me but I didn't answer (there was no call I sent them my call log proving that I received no calls from them) and that they apologise for the delay and that within the first 2 weeks of January they will let me know when the Black A8 will be available again and that they will contact me as to the availability

I was hella angry because if they told me this on the 21st I would have requested a refund instead of them telling me they will get me a Gold alternative.

I decided enough is enough I will go to their offices on the 2nd of January 2019 and request them to provide me with a phone or refund me as I was not going to wait any longer for my phone.

Went to their offices and. Spoke to one of the employees they said that they didn't have the A8 but if I was willing to pay an extra R500 they would give me an A8+. Paid the extra R500 and got my new phone.

Why a 3.5 star review you ask, well because I got my phone eventually and the employee did inform me that due to it being the Festive Period people from all around the World would be placing orders from their suppliers and that stock availability can change quickly.

Could understand where they were coming from I guess...

And finally I would just like to thank and also apologise to everyone that had to read this long review...it's my first review so still learning what to and what not to do.

Peace.

Hey Fahad,

Thanks for taking the time to post a review of your historical experience with us. We would like to, albeit historic, apologise for the issues that you have encountered during your purchasing experience with us.

You've raised a number of issues which due to the historical nature of your review are for the most part, no longer relevant at this time.

This is mostly due to the learnings we continue to take from the festive period on an annual basis (in your case, it was only our second festive period in operation) and implement the necessary measures to improve on the areas that caused us to fail previously.

Peace be with you too and we look forward to having you try us out again during this next festive period.

The Connected Devices Team
