Non existent service on purchase Headset.
Went to Computer Mania west coast village on Saturday to buy a headset; Steelseries Arctic Nova 1, downloaded the Steelseries GG app to set up the sound on my HP Ryzen 7 (windows 11) which I bought at the same shop in March 2025. Followed the instructions as per the YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7PxGKddaWM and set the input and output on my laptop; no incoming sound nor mic works. Deleted the app reinstalled again, same nil result. Plugged the device in directly to my laptop, set the sound on my sound control panel, low volume left pod only, no mic. Went to the shop today Monday 2 June, requesting an exchange for another device, a logitech H390 but they wanted to test it first. First question after I told them how I installed it with the app and my actions, did you also set the output and input on your laptop? " Yes ", the younger attendant tried it on a displayed laptop but the other assistant said " it won't work as it is set to administrator " , my attendant tried it on another laptop before settling on the final one where he used the single plug direct from laptop to headset where I did hear left and right pod sound. So I asked him about the settings which on a windows 10 looks different from windows 11 but I already tried all this on my laptop and I did get mono sound of the left one and no mic output. So, he said can you bring in your laptop, my next question then was: " how long will this take, can you set a time on it? " whereupon the other one said; " No, we can't " . Well I'm not giving you endless time on trying out my laptop which I need for work. So, I can basically just drop dead. I bought the logitech H390 and that should work, we hope. In conclusion: beware if you buy an accessory from this shop, and actually check before you pay and leave if it is in working condition without needing a PhD in computer science to figure out on which laptop, provided you have more than one, it might conceivably work. The shop attendants couldn't provide a solution that suited me. I will not buy another thing from this outlet, the computer mania in Long Street is streets ahead in service and for the past 5 years have bought many laptops from computer mania, I use two at home; one for work, one for private use. I suppose the owner can laugh all the way to the bank. The younger attendant did try very hard to look for a solution but was shot down by the more senior one. The younger one has all the potential for becoming a good customer focused service agent and he should seriously look into finding a better place to work as his talent is quite wasted in that place.
