Extremely Bad Service and No responsibility on products sold.
On the 21st of July 2021 I purchased a gaming headset for a pc. I was told that because of Covid they can't print an invoice and will mail it to me. I came home and had things to do and only opened the headset pack the next day. I could hear sound but the could not talk or communicate with the microphone. I had struggled for a few days and tried every setting possible to see why I could not use the microphone. Eventually I decided to return the headset for a refund. I packed the headset in the original packaging and took it back.
When I arrived at the store in Tableview Cape Town, the consultant, Jonathan attended to my concerns. I told Jonathan that I think the headsets are good but they are not working on my pc and it might be the jacks that is not correct.
He said that he would need to test the headsets and asked for my invoice. I told him that I might have it on email and looked on my phone. I found the invoice and it was dated the 21st of July 2021, I was returning the headsets on the 6th of August. I was immediately told by Jonathan that under no circumstances will a refund be possible because they have a 10 day return policy? I looked at the invoice and it states " Goods will only be directly SWOPPED in 10 days of INVOICE DATE if FAULTY" I said that I do not want the headsets because the microphone is not working. Jonathan took the headsets and started testing it on their pc. He tried the headsets several times and the microphone did not work. Jonathan then turned to me and said that he will send the headsets to the supplier and let them see what was wrong. I said that I do not want the headsets and wanted a refund. He said that they have a 10 day policy and can't give a refund and must send it away to the supplier to fix and give back to me? He was very upset with me and started being sarcastic towards me. I told him that he must focus on the problem and not let his emotions take over because I am complaining. I again said that I do not want the headsets because clearly they are not working after he tested it himself several times. I asked to speak to the manager of the store because I wanted a refund. Jonathan went to the back of the store and brought Veronica the manager to my attention. Before I could say anything, Veronica started stating that they have a 10 day policy and cannot refund me on the headsets knowing that it was defective and was not working. She further explained that they would send the headsets to the supplier and only if the supplier would credit them for the defect, would they credit me the customer for the defect??????>
I told her that I purchased the headsets from Computer Mania and not the supplier, why does my transaction with Computer Mania depend on the supplier???? This is not the way the CPA works. If I buy a product from Computer Mania, surely they are responsible for the product purchased? Why is Computer Mania putting all the blame on the supplier? I did not buy the headsets from the supplier. Why are they deflecting? So this means that everything we buy from Computer Mania is actually direct from the supplier? How does this work and why are they not taking responsibility for their products they sell in store?
I do not want the headsets as they are defective and I would like my refund. They forced me to sign documents to send the headsets to the supplier to be ficxed and send back to me.
I had told them that I do not want the headsets and I wanted a refund....... They refused. Their 10 days policy is better that the CPA. I wonder what the ombudsman would say........
