Customer Service Lapse: My Experience with Computer Mania's Payment and Refund Process
On April 1st, I visited Computer Mania to purchase a USB Type-C to 4-port USB Type 3 hub, which I paid for via QR code. Unfortunately, their card machine did not confirm the payment, prompting me to pay a second time using my bank card. The staff at Computer Mania assured me that the initial QR payment would be returned to my account, but this did not occur. After contacting Capitec Bank on April 12th, I learned that the payment had been successfully received by Computer Mania on April 3rd.
I promptly reached out to Computer Mania to request a refund and ascertain the process involved. The company agreed to process the refund, but upon my arrival at the store, I was asked for the purchase receipt. After a 20-minute wait, I inquired about the delay, only to be informed that the refund required an email approval from head office, and the timeframe for the process was uncertain.
Regrettably, the experience has left me highly dissatisfied, as the inconvenience of retrieving a mere R150 has been significant. The incident has also cast doubt on Computer Mania's ability to provide adequate customer service, which is disheartening.
