Very dissatisfied member

On the 4th June 2024 I received an email from Compcare advising of the merging of the Mumed ED scheme with the Selfsure option. I sent an email to Compcare on 10th June objecting to this. Only four weeks' notice was given of this change with an increase of 28% to be app**** to my current monthly payment.

I received a reply from Compcare on 27th July (nearly 7 weeks later) advising me to contact my broker (I don't have one) and advising me that a Compcare consultant had contacted me on 25th July with regard to my email (I did not receive a call). I wrote again on 27th July and received a reply today (2nd August) advising that the Retentions Department will contact me. I am wondering why the Retentions Department had to write and tell me that - probably more efficient to just contact me.

I have been a member since 2006 (the year my husband died) and prior to that we were members together for many years.

I believe that notification of this change in July 2024 to take place at the end of this year would have given affected members time to consider the offer and to look for alternate medical aid cover if necessary.

I am actually amazed that Compcare has been allowed to implement this.
