referral procedures for specialists
I got chronic laryngitis which I been suffering from sometime on the 29-01-2015 I visited my gp for a checkup because I couldn't eat and had severe pains on my throat he gave me a referral letter to see a specialist of ear, nose & throat on my first visit there I was told that the doctor will be available on monday got back home & consulted on monday on my arrival on the day the receptionist contacted my medical scheme & asked about the procedure & told me that they told her I must have authorisation letter handy,I returned back again to get the letter from my gp & was surprised that he knew nothing about it & had to call them again for more info, the medical scheme then sent him authorisation forms he filled the forms & emailed it back as he was told in order to get the authorisation number,my gp was told that they will call me & give me the authorisaauthorisation number I gone home with the authorisation forms expecting a call from my scheme the day gone by without a call the second day I called my medical scheme to get the number myself & was told to see government hospital cause they don' cover independent specialists, I don't understand cause I pay every cent for my covers.
