Compcare Selfmed lack of communication while increasing monthly fees.
Compcare Selfmed increased its monthly fee during January 2020 by about 150%. BUT they did not communicate this with us - the client - in any way or form. We faithfully paid, every month, the fee that we used to pay, not knowing it has changed. Then Compcare Selfmed (apparently during April 2020) suspended our membership - again without communicating it to us. We discovered this when our daughter wanted to change her medical cover because her situation changed. She e-mailed and phoned but could not get any reaction from Compcare Selfmed. Then she and her agent discovered that the fees went up and she was suspended - although she also paid her monthly fees as was known. Between the 3 of us Compcare received more than R20 000.00 over a period of about 7 months in monthly fee without informing the clients that they are not covered. For months we phoned, e-mailed and tried to talk to somebody that can help us. My husband got hold of a Meghan lady but that contact still cost us months before we could get something that look like a statement. This was received early July 2020. It shows the increase and the amount "that you owe". Sometimes when we requested an invoice or a statement we would receive an automated pamphlet. Termination certificates, apparently, are also not forthcoming. So if you still pay your monthly fee make sure that you have cover.
