********* and unprofessional practices

Eight months later — still waiting for my accumulated savings

I left CompCare Medical Scheme at the end of November 2025 to join another medical scheme. At the time of leaving, I had a positive accumulated medical savings balance that was due to be transferred.

I was initially advised in writing:

“Please be advised that for members that have terminated their membership, the Contributions Department will be responsible for your savings payout. The process takes up to 4 months before they make the payout because of the Medical Schemes Act that states that the providers have 3 months to submit claims after seeing members.”

I was asked to provide proof of my new medical scheme membership, my banking details and proof of identity. I submitted all the requested documentation.

At the end of January 2026, after I followed up, Richard Ubusi confirmed receipt of my documents and advised me in writing:

“As advised in my previous email, we confirm receipt of your completed documents. Please note that the refund will be processed after the applicable waiting period of five (5) months. Accordingly, the accumulated savings will be transferred to **** in April 2026.”

From 4 months to 5 months

April came and went. The transfer did not happen.

My emails and phone calls went unanswered. In mid-May, I eventually received a response requesting proof of membership again, which I submitted. There was then no meaningful response or progress.

By mid-June, I was told that the documentation had apparently still not been received. I sent it again on 17 June and receipt was finally confirmed.

Today is 4 July 2026. More than seven months have passed since I left the scheme, and more than two months have passed since the date CompCare itself gave me in writing for the transfer. My accumulated savings have still not been transferred, and my emails are once again being ignored.

I have been patient and have comp**** with every request made of me. What is particularly frustrating is not only the delay, but the repeated requests for documents already submitted, contradictory timelines, failure to follow through on written commitments, and the ongoing lack of communication.

At this point, I find the handling of this matter deeply unprofessional and unacceptable. These are accumulated savings belonging to a former member, and I should not have to spend months repeatedly chasing CompCare for a transfer that they themselves confirmed would take place in April.
