Not worth it!!!

I recently visited Coco Vogue Tygervalley and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing.

To start, they are the first spa I’ve encountered that requires clients to bring their own towels—two large towels per person. While they claim it’s for environmental reasons, it feels more like a way to avoid operational costs. If you don’t bring towels, you’re forced to rent them at R150 each or buy them at R250 each, which quickly adds up.

We arrived 15 minutes early as requested, only to be told to wait outside because they were having a meeting. Once inside, we still had to wait before being assisted, which cut into our scheduled session time.

I had booked a private room package with champagne and chocolates for an extra R300, but this was underwhelming—a small glass of cheap bubbly in a flimsy glass and two tiny wrapped chocolates, not even presented properly. By the time we were finally settled and ready, a significant portion of our one-hour session had already passed.

During the massage, we were asked about pressure. When my wife requested a harder massage, we were told it would cost an additional R300—something that should have been made clear upfront. To make matters worse, the session ended about 5 minutes early.

We then moved on to the “Love Your Feet” package, which again required our own towels. The treatment felt rushed and inconsistent. Instead of a proper massage, it was more like ointment being app**** and then waiting. Our experiences differed—my feet were filed while my wife’s were not, and she received an extra shoulder massage while I didn’t. This session also ended about 10 minutes early.

At the end, we were encouraged to purchase another ointment for R250. By this point, it felt like a continuous upselling exercise rather than a relaxing spa experience.

Overall, this felt like a money-making scheme rather than a premium service. I left feeling more stressed than relaxed, having spent far more than I had budgeted for an experience that was far from satisfactory. This was meant to be a special anniversary surprise for my wife, but the only surprise was how poor the service was.

The only positive was the background music—which honestly, you could just download and enjoy at home.

I would not return and would strongly advise others to think twice before booking.
