CMH the Glen

My daughter arranged the finance on a Mitsubishi ASX 2015 model in December 2019. The car had 84000 kms on the clock and currently has 87000 odd kms on the clock. During March 2020 the service light came on. I took the car in for the routine service and mentioned that for the past week the car had been jerking and could someone look at that as well as the front head light which only came on when the brights were selected. At about 3 in the afternoon the service lady phoned and said the car was in the wash bay and I could come and collect it. I asked if the reason for the jerking had been ascertained. She said she would ask the service technician. He confirmed he could feel the jerking, especially uphill, but could not confirm what was wrong with it. The service lady asked me to bring the car back the next day which I was not able to do due to work commitments. I asked her to arrange another time which she did not do. By the way I was told to buy a globe for the light, which should have been attended to by them. The head light is in fact not working at all which was tested by using a globe that worked in the opposite head light so this shows the level of interest in issues brought to their attention when booking a car in for a service - I don't know why they even bother asking what else they can attend to. Covid then happened and no services or appointments could be booked. In June I wrote to Mitsubishi head office and said nobody had looked at the car yet and gave him the background on the car. I corresponded with David *****ya who seemed interested in my complaint . During the course of trying to ensure that the battery remained charged the Transmission service light came on - the car has not been on the road since the light came on. I mentioned that the light had come on toDavid and he said when I book the car in for the service he would arrange for a technical specialist to look at the car. I had the car towed in today for the transmission service only to be informed that there is a fault with the gearbox that will cost about R20000 to R25000 to repair. I said okay please go ahead with stripping the gearbox but do not do any work if it is more than that as this is a lot of money to anyone. I asked them to leave the repairs if it was more than that. I was then phoned within a few minutes by the service lady who told me I was looking at R51750 for the gearbox repairs alone and that did not include the transmission service costs, etc, so the CMH costs. I said no sorry, I will have the car towed back home. Today I logged a case with the Motor Industry Ombudsman as well, as there is no way in hell that a car with only 87000 kms on the clock can have major gearbox problems that cost a quarter of the car price. I also googled this particular year model and it has major gearbox and transmission issues. This means that inferior cars are manufactured and sold to unsuspecting public. I am therefore writing this as a warning to anyone who intends to buy a secondhand Mitsubishi especially from CMH the Glen. This car had one owner before so it is not due to reckless driving that this problem has happened.
