Most *********** sales team and ******** manager.
Peugeot Silverlakes / CMH Used Menlyn
I started the process to buy a demo 5008 1.6 Thp last week Thursday, 3 December 2020.
1. We advised the sales lady, Lidia, that we would not complete an application until we get a settlement for our vehicle. Lidia advised what the offer is and also (proof of voicenote) that they would assist with the shortfall of R20 000 (trade assistance). Which at the end they could not do and loaded R10 000 on the financing for shortfall.
2. The next day we received the application form. It contained confidential information of another applicant / previous applicant. This has serious implications with regards to the POPI Act.
3. We received a call back from Lidia advising us of the installment we were looking at. Immediately we knew that they had loaded the wrong amount. Suddenly Lidia was unsure of the price of the vehicle. Thereafter advised that it has been corrected, the lady loading the applications made a mistake. After speaking to the lady doing the applications she advised that Lidia instructed her to load the higher amount. Both of them blaming each other. Probably well knowing that they attempt to overcharge each customer.
4. Monday, 7 December 2020 we were advised that the car we are interested in now suddenly does not have a sunroof. After Lidia confessed that she has been driving around with the car. She knowingly mislead us regarding the features of the car.
5. We then decided to change to another car with a sunroof. Lidia advised that it is also a 2020 demo model with just over 10 000km. The first OTP arrived stating that it is a 2019 model with 22 000 something km on the odometer. We requested clarification and Lidia advised that it is definitely a 2020 model with lower km. She send the 2nd OTP stating that it is a 2020 model with 22 000km. We again queried the odometer reading.
6. This morning, Friday 11 December, we were about the drive and go sign the contract and take delivery of the vehicle, we were again advised that they had made a mistake. The vehicle is a 2019 model with just over 22000km on the clock.
7. We advised that we would still take the vehicle but that they needed to restructure the deal as the price of the financing was for a 2020 demo model with 7****m (no sunroof) and this was now a 2019 model (not demo anymore) with 22 000km. Lidia advised that she would arrange a cashback of R10 000. Thereafter the sales manager phoned and advised that they will not restructure the deal and will not be giving cashback as the 2019 model has a sunroof. According to him the 2019 model with sunroof and 22 000km vs. the 2020 model without sunroof and 7****m has the same value.
They are using false advertising on Autotrader to lure customers to their dealership. This is against the Customer Protection Act. You can not knowingly mislead customers with false adverti*****ts so that one dealership benefits over another. Attached is two examples of ads they loaded on Autotrader. The manager declined knowledge of the ads, but I am luckily in the habbit of taking screen shots.
