CMH Ford Hatfield - Untold stories of unsuspecting, innocent African customers.
I bought a second hand BMW X3 at the above dealership through their Salesman called Hennie and their Sales Manager Tyrone Cotty involved on the 31st of January and took delivery of the car on the 6th of February, I had to pay R90000.00 cash deposit for them to release the car. The next day soon after taking delivery of the car, I reported to them that the car had problems, I got stuck on my way to work. The car would just disengage the gears to neutral while driving. I later took it to them that same day and they had it for the day and called me later to say they had fixed the problem. 3 days later I got stuck again along N1 south, sadly driving in the fast lane, someone driving behind me could not break and drove straight into me, from behind. Insurance took the car for 2 months for the damages at the back. I got the car back towards the end of April, drove again for about a week and the problem persisted, I took the car back to them for the 4th time this time around on the 16th of June, Tyrone their sales manager told that he was taking the car to Menlyn BMW, I only got feedback of their findings at the end of July, a month and a half after they told me that they would fix the car for me (some kind of leveraging statement in the event that one decides to go to the ombuds). I later learnt that they have had managed to figure out what was causing the 'cutting off while driving" which they alluded to the vacuum pump. To my surprise, after the car was fixed, Tyrone (SM) told me that I must now settle the payment with BMW. The only reason he chose to fix the was that he did not have any similar replacement for the defective car. He is now dropping the cost of repair on me including storage. He failed to exercise diligence before putting that in his showroom, I should suffer for that? Why on earth will human beings be so cruel against other humans? Is it a racial case now or what? This is my advice to whoever who may be looking to buy a second-hand car through this dealership, do not be fooled with their fancy writings on their walls, it's all a game to trick people into signing the agreement, thereafter you are in for it. You can cry for all you want, unfortunately, it can only fall on deaf ears, including their dealer principal Ralph. He has ignored me from day 1 even after I tried to return the car for a refund. Tyrone boastfully told me to do whatever, Ombuds or the consumer council but will not win, which can only translate to being seasoned, knowledgeable enough to sway the cases in his favour. Am at a loss of words, to say the least.
