CASE FOR CONSUMER COUNCIL
We purchased more than twenty beds from Cloud Nine over a period of several years, initially for a guesthouse and then for personal use. Not one single bed lived up to expectation, nowhere near their 'warranty' which is not worth the paper it is written on. Each bed sagged and collapsed in middle soon after purchased, including their top of range Vogue series. Exactly same scenario with our children in Pretoria, also Vogue. Lodging a complaint each time they dutifully sent rep and followed up with a 'Dear John' letter to cover their tracks. First time reps well rehe****d finding was that there is a TV in the room and we spend too much time on the bed watching TV while both of us work fulltime and spend almost all weekends away from home at our weekend location. Next inspection visit this time on latest Vogue suite findings were that our U/S bed was within spec and their letter instructed that if situation deteriorated we should contact them again in a couple of months. Needless to say mattress is unusable, pillow top collapsed and we are sleeping DOWNHILL. We now turned mattress upside down, supporting dent in pillow top with two thickly folded blankets from below creating a counter bow on top , then bought two Driftaway foam toppers from Dischem to cushion the very stiff underside of mattress, now on top, while contemplating our next move. Consumers be aware that there are serious inherent latent defects in the design of their beds, while selling at outrageously inflated prices. Their modus operandi to issue warranties, some lifetime I believe, then create the impression that they attend to it but cunningly evade any monetary consequences for their company should definitely be investigated by the consumer council.
