Clearscore and experian are absolutely *******.

Clearscore and experian are absolutely ******* with the way they handle credit scores. My score was 669 for months. I was 1 month away from having no credit enquiries on my profile. This should have increased my score above 700. Clearscore & experian then decreases my score by 23 points because of a new account that I actually had for years. This is totally ******* behaviour and unacceptable. I am now lodging a complaint with the credit ombudsman.

Hi Mark, Thanks for your feedback. Although you may have opened this account a while ago, this account is now showing on your report this month, so we display this in the 'What's changed' section of your report. The following are a few reasons why an old account will be showing as new:
  • The lender may have decided to start reporting this data to Experian (our data provider).
  • If the name or account number of a particular account or lender has been slightly altered since last month, our system will see this as a 'new' account.
  • If a financial account is showing on your report now but wasn't on your report last month, this will appear in What has changed to show there's a change from the previous report.
If you look through the 'Accounts' tab of your credit report (including the 'Open' and 'Closed' accounts sections), you should be able to find the account referred to. Check through all sections: Telecoms, Credit Cards, Utilities, Payment History etc. You'll need to lodge a dispute with Experian if you believe there’s incorrect information on your credit report. You can contact Experian on *** or raise a dispute via our contact form. Please be aware that once Experian processes your dispute, it can take up to 20 business days to come to a resolution, though the process is usually much faster. Many thanks,Zara
