Dishonest conduct to secure the job
I have contacted CK Express to ascertain why the amounts are different from what they quoted me initially - R8375 and what the 3rd party insurance is offering to settle - R3700. The response from Shadley the estimator is that they have a different lower rate for insurance companies compared to cash paying clients.
So when the 3rd party insurance settles you as the vehicle owner, the amount you accept is always going to be lower than the amount required to repair the vehicle and you have pay from your pocket the difference even though the same company - CK Coachworks - did the quotation initially and the subsequent assessment and estimation for the insurance.
It is my suspicion that they quote low on purpose to secure the job and then spring a surprise at the end, at the expense of the vehicle owner.
As explained by the branch manager, we agree to the labour pricing the insurer has suggested however there is an associated procedure of repair not included in the authorized amount. We have tried to make contact with the assessing company to have this amount included so the repair figure amounts to the actual cost making no additional payment by yourself. This must be fixed prior to them settling you on the claim. Please allow us some time to resolve this. Thanks once again for your tolerance in this regard.
