Lack of Electrical plug maintenance

Iam a tenant at one of City Properties apartments, Tali’s place, located on Albertina Sisulu road.

I recently encountered a very disturbing incident whereby the plugs were malfunctioning and as a result, 4 of my appliances, namely, Microwave, Air fryer, iron and a kettle all stopped working. The office sent an electrician to check and he confirmed that the appliances were affected by the malfunction of the plugs, hence the elements were burnt.

I informed City property about this and asked for a way forward/compensation for the damage since the cause was from their side. However I was told to contact my own insurer and that the only thing they could do was pay for access, should there be any.

I told them that I had not insured the appliances. They then stopped replying to my emails.
