Extremly disappointed.
This complaint stems from requesting to upgrade from a 1bedroom apartment to a 2 bedroom apartment- I am a current tenant and have been leasing a 1 bedroom flat for approximately 6years, I appear on the lease of a 2nd apartment in the complex together with my sibling who has been living and paying for that 2nd apartment for approximately 4years, we have a combined history with City property for over 10years, never missing a monthly payment.
Although the application process was extremely fast- Calvin Coopersamy and Zwelakhe Msiza have assisted me in a prompt efficient manner, I am unhappy with the outcome, All I would like to do is upgrade from my current apartment to an apartment with an additional bedroom, City property has determined that my sibling cannot “afford” the current apartment on her own name on paper ,so in order to have the apartment that she is living and paying for on her name, we must now get someone to apply with her?
I believe that an exception could/can be made considering our history with MidCity (Previous leasing Agent) and City Property. Regardless of your terms and conditions and “minimum criteria”- An agreement of some sort could/can have been considered ? If not by you then by your board or management. Also please note that I am not requesting that your terms and conditions be disregarded but I am certain that an alternative solution can be implemented with all the requested info that I have sent in on behalf of my sister and myself.
We have been good loyal clients to City Property over the years, We have never missed payments on rent- In all the years that we have lived at The Hangar Complex, we have experienced multiple tenants on practically every floor stay for a couple of months and then leave.
It saddens me to have to resort to sourcing alternative options but the fact that you have concluded that my sister cannot afford an apartment she has been paying for, for over 4 years and the fact that her bank statements reflect that after all her overheads including the rent paid to City property via Stop order leaves her with over R4000.00 in her account regardless of whether her net is R13800.00 or not, the fact that we have been loyal tenants has not been taken into consideration - My family and I have experienced a lot of both good and bad memories in these apartments, it is quit unfortunate that this will be our final year as tenant’s. Based on the outcome of this process we have decided that we will start to seek alternative permanent leasing or purchasing options and will advise City Property of our intentions to vacate both apartments in the near future . City property has just lost two extremely loyal clients.
