Charged R4700 for caretakers mistake

I moved out on the 31st of December 2017 at Ricci's place and my lease was ending on the 28th of February 2018 so I wanted out because I was no longer working and I knew I wouldn't afford rent for the next 2 months, so naturally it's December and most offices are closed and people go home before Christmas I went to the caretaker and told him my situation that I'm unemployed and I have to move out and I specified as to what will I get billed for when I move out before my lease ends he told me it's okay you should move out you'll forfeit your deposit and that's the only money they'll need from you ,and I was fine with that so come the 31st I go back to joburg to move my things out and I contacted him to come and inspect the place and I left the building after that was completed.

Fast forward to month end January 2018 I get an email with this huge bill that exceeds what I'd pay if I was living in the flat my rent was R3450 and would go up to 3800 now I open this email and see that they've taken the deposit and now I have a balance of R4700 to pay, so I call their offices to get clarity on the matter, the only thing that lady (Janine) kept telling me was that I have to pay that R4700 because the caretaker shouldn't have told me that, I mean if I knew I'd be charged R4700 and the R3450 I wouldn't have moved because now clearly I'm charged way more than I would have been charged had I stayed and now I have to pay for something I didn't use because the caretaker gave me wrong information?!
