City Power Prepaid Electricity taxed at 53%. What cost you R500 in June2024 will now cost R1000

The new service charge for pre-paid electricity customers is not R200 but in fact R400. This morning, I bought R1000 worth of electricity via the FNB app. To my shock the breakdown of the electricity bought is as follow: Electricity amount R469.57 VAT R130.43 Service Fee R400

Now bear in mind the money used to buy the electricity comes out of my salary that is taxed. The fuel I use to get to work and back in order for the government to make money out of me is taxed. Now City power takes 53% of the money you spend on electricity to line their pockets. SERVICE FEE? What service, the city looks like absolute sh*t, in our Randpark Ridge are lucky if you have water and electricity at the same time. Mostly you will only have one or the other.
