CITY POWER & ESKOM FAILURE TO SWITCH ON THE STREET LIGHTS OF RIVERSIDE VIEW FOURWAYS
Dear City Power, Eskom
I hope my email finds you well.
Kindly allow me to introduce myself to you; I am part of the leadership of Riverside View Fourways and I also represent the residents of Riverside View X35 Community.
Kindly could we bring the following matter to your assistance. Noting that this matter is 6 months outstanding.
1. Per our various lengthy discussions and investigative telephonic call to Mr. Tony Dube from City Power, we the residents of Riverside View community have a problem that: the street lights are not functioning. These street lights are technically not working and thus not on at night (when they should be). - This has been the case for the last 6 months.
2. By our understanding thus far, this matter is between Eskom and city Power, who transferred responsibilities to Eskom. - From our various discussions trying to resolve this matter, we presume that the problem is that there are outstanding monies owed to Eskom from
3. That being said, we do not understand the reasons why our street lights are not operational. - Surely this matter is not of the residents of Riverside View community making? - And if so, kindly could we be alerted to the true reasons for this?
4. We’ve had countless communiqué to the responsible office holders at both City Power and Eskom, to no avail. To an extent that we convened a meeting with Eskom at Megawatt Park on 06th August 2019.
5. Lastly one of our resident by the name of Nathi Silawu has previously communicated with the mayors office and the query was escalated to the Customer Service Director
(Shaheed was one of the people who attended to the query and to date we have not received any response)
Please take note of the references that were provided:
CP*** CP*********
This matter does not require reference numbers because it is not a system failure of something, but its a matter between City Power and Eskom.
Please do not take us for granted because we are a black community
This matter requires no Reference Numbers because its not an electrical fault. This Matter requires City Power to Enter into an Arrangement with Eskom and we have Eskom come switch back the lights!
We have over 5 cases of residents, especially woman being ****** and attempted ****d because of the dark place Riverside has become.
How do we then as community ensure that the 3 Sub Stations in Riverside View are protected? because we as community leaders we are currently blocking the community to go vandalize because we believe in engagement
With fairness, this in-operation of the street lights is a security concern for us residents of Riverside View community. This is unacceptable.
I hope you can address and feedback to us with the speed and seriousness that this matter requires.
