Charged on old meter
Put simply, they have completly over estimated the amounts and that on a meter that was replaced more than 5 months ago. I bought a property in Kensignton, which had recently been equipped with a very new electronic (networked) meter. They have have done 3 readings by this time (one when I was home sick, one when I was having my ADSL installed and once with my wife) but say that the meter was only installed in July and NO ONE has actually done a reading so I can't submit my own. My first bill was R3600 (which should have been around R2200) and I reluctantly paid it. The new bill came in at a whopping R5000. Insane, I hardly use R600 electricity and combined with other items shouldn't be more than R1400 per month.

This is actually insanity. I don't have that amount of cash to put into a bill that is completely bogus. I have photos when I moved in showing the new meter in mid-April.

I'll be going in to try to fix this since the help line can't help me communicate with another department. In the mean time I fear having the electricity cut. It's like the mafia, they operate by keeping us in fear. Welcome to the dark ages.
