Refund on clearance certificate amount not paid back

<p>The law allows councils to issue a clearance certificate and demand payment thereof before a property may be transferred. Sadly council does not realise that this right it has been afforded comes with a responsibility to repay any resulting credit within a reasonable time.</p> <p> </p> <p>Despite the transfer attorney's and my own best efforts, we have not been able to get the credit back from the council since transfer on 30 November 2015, which at the time of writing was a period of more than 7 months.</p>
