From bad to worse - no ETA on power to be restored.

On Tuesday, 30 January 2024 at 04h00 cables where ****** in our street, being 24th Avenue.. We have reported it in our whatsapp group for Ward 52. In the group, it was said that it was reported and await for technician to come out, with no further feedback received.

Later that evening at 19h10, I phoned out Frans Smith, our Ward 52 Representative, and voiced my frustration as there was no progress given on the group whatsoever. Frans referred to the Jacaranda Substation and the areas affected however our incident was different due to cable theft. Eventually after reiterating myself I asked him to please escalate the matter as it has been 12 hours without power and we need to establish if the power will be fix that night or do we need to make alternative arrangements for our food in our fridges, etc. He undertook to sent me updates as soon as our conversation ended.

On Wednesday, 31 January 2024 no technicians had came to site and we still remain without power. I then informed Frans about it and he asked only then to submit a ticket or reference number on the Tshwane platform which we did and until now we have not receive any form of communication that gives us indication when it will be repaired. Furthermore, when we reported it on the powerfailure.tshwane platform we are prompt to supply our contact number however we do not receive any updates nor notifications if technician was appointed? or what the progress is? What is the point of providing this if we don't receive communication.

There are people that don't have the luxury of making plans to keep their food refrigerated and end up throwing it away. People safety is in jeopardy because there is no lights, or alarm systems that don't work due to power failure. How do we remain calm and "wait our turn" if we are to remain in the dark on the progress. It is now day 3.
