City of Tshwane Meter Readings & Billing Gets it Completely Wrong!

There should be a rating below zero to express the level of discontent for this behemoth excuse of a public service provider. Incompetence would be a word too kind!

Without fail meter readings are submitted monthly for capture and billing. As of February this year the water meter became faulty. A compilation of readings (photos) captured over a couple of successive days was submitted in support. Photos accompany submissions each and every month along with the repeated request to have the meter attended to. The matter has been escalated time and again to various stakeholders, including via local and mayoral Councillors. Calls to Customer Care never get answered.

Average monthly water consumption ranges between 25 and 35 kilo litres. This month CoT billing reflects a whopping R68,539.96 (1397 kilo litres) which is preposterous. There are no leaks, we are only TWO residents!

The total bill for August is R74,002.03! Without any form of response but for the usual automated email replies I am now at my whits end! Unaffordability aside who's to say yet more erroneous billings won't follow! Given it's abysmal track record the next move from the CoT will undoubtedly be to disconnect services, issue a summons and instill re-connection fees, all simply because of it's own inexcusable blunders. Something has got to be done!

Many residents experience similar ongoing irregularities. The hope is reaching out to HelloPeter might help, God knows nothing else has, not even an email to the CoT CFO, Escalations, meter records and various other key role players not to mention customer care!
