Damage to road upon water meter relocation!
We had our water meter relocated over 3 months ago. A team from the city of Johannesburg can easily through and we're very efficient in trenching a new hole across the road and connecting our new water line to the mains. They then advised that they are not responsible for the repairs to the tar road that are caused neither to close up the huge hole on the sidewalk, however that they would record on the job card that repair work needs to be done which is then the repsonsibility of Johannesburg Roads to come and "finish the job" making sure that the road surface is re-tarred and the hole closed. Months have passed and the road in our residential area have still not been repaired. After a number of logged calls and e-mails we have been unsuccessful and have had no feedback as to when and if Joburg municipality will ever attend to this issue. The service is shocking and unacceptable. Everyone we have spoken to just passes the buck to someone else and no-one is prepared to take ownership of this matter. Unfortunately our municipality departments do not seem to communicate with one another and all having a customer service call center all seems rather pointless!!!! Not to mention that our new water meter number has not been registered on the system. We have been billed based on the previous meter and receiving actual readings when the old meter no longer exists. I have again logged numerous calls in order to have this issue rectified, but nothing seems to change!
