City of Johannesburg - 5 months later on...no rates reimbur*****t!
I sold a property in the Lonehill area a few months ago. The property transfer was concluded on 6 February 2019. The transferring attorneys issued (by hand) a rates account refund request letter (COJ account number 550 397 310, letter available) on 8 February 2019.
I left this request for 4 months for the process to follow due course. I started phoning the COJ helpline from June 2019 onwards (mostly gave up because I could not get through). During the beginning of July 2019 I spoke to a COJ call center agent whom informed me the credit was showing on my account but they could not pay this back because the transferring attorneys' account detail was not available (This detail is however clearly stated on the letter of 9 February 2019!).
I then commenced an email request trail (with all information attached). Mails on 12 July 2019, then on 17 July 2019 and then on 23 July 2019 (mails available) to ***. Absolutely no acknowledgement of the email request, let alone any form of response!
Almost 5 months has gone by....it is absolutely pathetic how COJ very quickly jumps on the phone to demand payments if a client skip a month...BUT how the reverse transaction (i.e. they owe you) is flatly ignored!
Shame on you COJ...pathetic "service"!!
