Abusive Pikitup garbage collecters and an ******** call center agent

I live in Kensington B, Randburg. Pikitup Garbage Collectors managed to destroy our bin over a period of time starting late in 2016. First the wheels came off then they took the lid with one collection. Some of these guys managed to get abusive (swearing, aggressive) with members of my family because the bin is broken and it makes it "difficult" for them to collect the garbage. On top of this, they ask for money when they see members of my family. On another occasion one guy suggested we should go to a depot and collect a bin. In the meantime, Pikitup did not have bins for a very long time. The guys collecting the garbage now went as far as not collecting our garbage because our bin is broken. They did not collect on Tuesday, 7 March 2017 and who broke the bin?

Today I called the Pikitup, 09:20 a.m. 10 March 2017 and Ronesia is the agent who helps me. I finally managed to get a reference number for a bin to be delivered. Great! Now I asked her where can I log a compliant as my garbage are not being collected and that the guys are not nice. She starts by telling me in very indirect way that I am lying; quote: "I don't think the guys will be rude to you and why do you go outside. The guys are not like that. You must tell them to collect the garbage". The more I am trying to ask her to please listen to me, the more she talks over me, becoming more and more aggressive and telling me I am in the wrong here. She continues to tell me that they don't have a compaints department and that there is nothing I can do about the situation. It took me to tell her that these guys are actually swearing at us. All of a sudden City of Johannesburg has a complaints department! She gave me a number to log a complaint...the number does not work of exist. Ronesia needs to have wake up call about what service delivery is and to listen to COJ's clients. Please make an effort to get the audio of this telephonic conversation.

I hope to get feedback on this from COJ as my next step would be to go to the newspapers and other forms of media with this story.

Thank you

From a client working in the service delivery sector
