Ongoing Issue With Cloned Number Plate Fine – Ignored Evidence, Poor Service & Now a Summons I am writing to express my frustration with the way the City of Cape Town Traffic Department has handled my case involving a fine issued for a vehicle that is not mine. The vehicle shown on the fine looks completely different from my actual car , and it is evident that the number plate was cloned. I submitted all evidence in December

I provided photos of my car (which clearly does not match the vehicle in the fine)

i also have proof that I was working from home in Durbanville on the day in question and Confirmation that I was not in, and do not work in, the area where the fine was issued

Despite this, the fine has still not been removed, and I have now received a summons. To make matters worse, when I phoned the City of Cape Town for assistance, the staff member I spoke to would not listen to my explanation. When I requested to speak to a manager, the call was cut off. I had to call back, and on the second attempt although she was very nice I was told to “ignore the summons” which makes me extremely nervous. The summons should never have been issued in the first place, given the evidence provided months ago. It is extremely concerning that a clear case of plate cloning, backed by proof, has not been addressed for over two months, and that incorrect escalation to a summons has occurred. This situation has caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience, and reflects poorly on the handling of residents’ legitimate concerns. I am requesting urgent intervention to:

Withdraw the fine Cancel the incorrect summons Update your systems to reflect the submitted evidence Ensure this matter is properly resolved so it does not escalate again

I would appreciate a prompt response and confirmation that the case will finally be dealt with correctly.

I have gone to the Durbanville Police Station and was told they cannot open a case but to make an affidavit which i have done so i have done everything my side but am now getting a summons for a fine that is not for me and for which i have given you evidence for in December and you have still not resolved this, this is not acceptable
