Unreasonable, confrontational behaviour by senior City Official towards parent and daughter
Newlands Swimming Pool – Unacceptable conduct and harassment of a father and young swimmer by a City official, including photographing her swimming training guide I had a deeply disappointing experience at Newlands Swimming Pool today, 9 October 2026, between approximately 13:20 and 15:00, while accompanying my young daughter during her swimming training. The pool was relatively quiet, and no lanes were demarcated. My daughter was using a starting block when a lifeguard told her she could not dive. She immediately got off the block and entered the water. Following this interaction, a senior City facility official approached us and initiated a prolonged, confrontational discussion. He challenged my right to coach my own daughter and argued about her use of the pool saying she was swimming up and down and that constituted using a lane. (No lanes were demarcated) and two other adult swimmers were also swimming "up and down". He persisted in this confrontational manner despite my explanation that she had immediately complied and that he was interrupting our time together. More concerningly, the official used his mobile phone to photograph the paper containing my daughter's swimming training programme after directly telling her that he would do so. I consider this conduct deeply inappropriate, even despicable in the circumstances. What legitimate purpose was served by photographing a young swimmer's personal training programme during an unnecessary confrontation with her father? Later, when I was near the mirrored office overlooking the pool, I observed him tilt his phone in my direction, raising concerns that I might also have been photographed or recorded. I have no objection to legitimate safety measures. My concern is the manner in which authority was exercised, the unnecessary confrontation with a parent and young swimmer, and the photographing of a minor's training guide without any explanation of its purpose. Public swimming facilities should encourage young people to participate in sport and develop their abilities. Parents and children should be treated with consideration and respect, not subjected to unnecessary confrontation that disrupts their training. This was an unacceptable experience, and I hope the City takes seriously the importance of professional conduct at its public swimming facilities.

MyCiTi Bus Driver's Alleged Reckless Driving Put My Child and Me at Risk
I wish to lodge a formal complaint regarding an extremely dangerous incident involving one of your buses at exactly 07:30 on Sunday, 11 October 2026, at the intersection of Echium Road and Raats Drive, opposite Life Changers Church in Table View, Cape Town (driver going in the direction of bayside and Blaauwberg Rd) I was driving with my young child when a MyCiTi bus approached the intersection and stopped at the bus stop situated before the stop street. It was my turn to proceed across the stop street. However, instead of remaining stopped and allowing me to proceed, the bus driver rapidly and unnecessarily accelerated and drove forward into the intersection, directly into the path of my vehicle. The bus appeared to be deliberately attempting to collide with the side of my car. I was placed in a position where a collision could have caused serious damage to my vehicle and potentially resulted in serious injury to me and my child. The driver's conduct was frightening and, in my view, wholly incompatible with the standard of care expected of a professional public transport driver. A bus driver has a particular responsibility to obey traffic signs, drive at a safe speed and avoid endangering other road users. The bus then continued at what appeared to be an excessive speed in the direction of Blaauwberg Road. Because of the sudden and frightening nature of the incident, I was unable to identify the bus fleet number or route number. This should not prevent a proper investigation. MyCiTi operates scheduled routes and should be able to establish which vehicle was operating in the area at the specified time. I also understand that buses are equipped with cameras that may have captured the incident. I therefore formally request that MyCiTi: 1. Identify the bus and driver operating in the vicinity of Echium Road and Raats Drive at approximately 07:30 on 11 October 2026, including vehicles travelling towards Blaauwberg Road. 2. Immediately preserve all relevant onboard camera footage, forward-facing camera footage, driver-facing footage if available, GPS data, vehicle tracking records, route schedules and dispatch records for the relevant period. 3. Investigate the driver's conduct, including the apparent failure to yield at the stop street and the dangerous acceleration into the path of my vehicle. 4. Review any available footage and provide a written account of the findings. 5. Confirm what steps will be taken if the investigation substantiates reckless or dangerous driving. 6. Provide me with a formal complaint reference number and a written response. 7. I am particularly concerned that this was not merely an inconvenience or a minor traffic disagreement. The manoeuvre placed my child and me at potential risk of serious harm. Had the bus struck my vehicle side-on, the consequences could have been devastating. I am also concerned about reports of other incidents involving MyCiTi buses and civilian vehicles in Table View. I appreciate that each incident must be investigated on its own evidence, but this incident raises serious questions about driver conduct and road safety that warrant proper attention. Please treat this complaint as urgent and preserve the relevant footage immediately, as recordings may be overwritten through routine retention procedures. I expect this complaint to be investigated properly and not dismissed simply because I could not obtain the bus number under the circumstances. The date, precise location, approximate time and direction of travel should provide a reasonable starting point for identifying the vehicle. Please acknowledge receipt of this complaint in writing and advise me of the next steps. I will also be reporting this incident at SAPS so require a case number from you for a detective to follow up. I will be pressing charges of reckless endangerment against MiCiti and in particular, the driver.

Wrongful Water Disconnection Despite Account Being Up To Date - ***
I settled all outstanding municipal arrears in full on 22 September 2026, and my account is completely up to date. We continued receiving water without any issues following the payment. However, on 09 October 2026, the City of Cape Town disconnected my water supply without any explanation or justification. I contacted the municipality immediately to establish why my water had been disconnected, only to be informed that the disconnection was wrongful. I was issued reference number ***. Despite this acknowledgement, my water supply has STILL NOT BEEN RESTORED! WHY WAS MY WATER DISCONNECTED WHEN MY ACCOUNT IS FULLY PAID, AND WHY HAS IT STILL NOT BEEN RECONNECTED AFTER THE CITY ACKNOWLEDGED ITS ERROR? What makes this situation even more unacceptable is that I live with a bedridden elderly parent who depends on access to water for basic hygiene, care and daily living. This is not merely an inconvenience; it is a serious health and welfare concern. I am extremely disappointed by the treatment I have received. I also have serious concerns regarding my previous interactions with an official at the Kuils River municipal offices, whose conduct left me with the impression that a bribe was expected. I am concerned that the subsequent disconnection may have been retaliatory, and I demand that this matter be formally investigated. It is absolutely unacceptable that a resident who has settled every cent owed to the municipality should be subjected to such treatment. I DEMAND THE FOLLOWING: 1. Immediate restoration of my water supply as a matter of urgency. 2. A written explanation of why my water was disconnected despite my account being fully paid. 3. An explanation of why the water supply has not been restored after the municipality acknowledged that the disconnection was wrongful. 4. A formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding this disconnection, including the conduct of the officials involved. I am putting the City of Cape Town on notice that should my bedridden parent's health or well-being be compromised as a result of this situation, I reserve the right to pursue legal action against the City. In the meantime, I will be consulting my legal representative regarding this matter. This situation is absolutely unacceptable, and I expect immediate intervention, not another reference number or empty promises. I require urgent feedback and confirmation of when my water supply will be restored.

WHAT A POOR SERVICE I JUST RECEIVED FORM ONE OF YOUR AGENCY WOW.I have been waiting for almost a year
WHAT A POOR SERVICE I JUST RECEIVED FORM ONE OF YOUR AGENCY WOW.I have been waiting for almost a year for my paving to be repaired after it was damaged by a water leak from your pipes. Today, officials from the City of Cape Town arrived, but no one bothered to inform us or even call beforehand. We only noticed that work had been done when we saw that the paving had been damaged even further. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of communication and the additional damage caused to my property. I am calling their callcentre the agent the keeps on dropping my call. ***

CITY OF CAPETOWN - BLEEDING RESIDENTS DRY
City of Cape Town is trying to bleed the residents dry. Taking surveys of properties and then push up the value causing residents to pay the higher prepaid electricity tariff. They did an evaluation and just changed my property value to over a million, causing me to pay the Home User Tariff, which includes that high admin fee that I must pay now. Everything is expensive enough as it is. I will def not go for DA during this voting poll. I think the City of Cape Town must reevaluate the process they do every 3 years when it comes to property values because the way it is being executed now is totally unfair to the residents. I AM AGAINST THE CITY OF CAPE TOWN!!!. Also not force residents on the Home User Tariff without getting the consent of the resident first.
