City of Cape Town, I am buying more electricity then the total value of the rates
II have been dealing with this issue for two years now, and it still has not been resolved by the City of Cape Town. The water meter outside my property malfunctioned, and whenever I turned on a tap or took a shower, a banging sound started, vibrating throughout the walls of the house. I logged a query with them, and they deployed a van to come out. The technician opened their box and plugged in his laptop. He then showed me that my water was flowing away at an average rate of 200 liters per hour for more than a month. They went ahead and fixed the issue, and the loud vibrating sound went away. When my next rates account came, I nearly had a stroke. They added over 11,000 rand to my bill, which is now pushing me to my breaking point. Please bear in mind that this box belongs to them, and we do not tamper with or open it, as it is against the law. Attached, you can see how many units I am receiving for 100 rand or 80 rand. They are punishing me for a mistake with their box and now giving me the runaround on how to pay them.Daily, I receive 3.6 units for 100 rand, and I have an ill mother with a serious heart condition. The way they are treating this is as if it is not important. If I can make an analogy, there are certain problems that can wait, but this is like being stabbed and bleeding out, while they tell you to wait until the doctor decides to save you. Attached is the video I took the day they repaired it. After that, they messed up my account, and it is still in that state. I am spending more money on electricity than on food or fuel, and I only started working recently.
