Price Increase After Deposit Paid

If you are looking to purchase a car do not bother with Chery South Africa!

They were running a special in the month of April, we were very interested but wanted to look at other options to make sure we were making the right choice. I confirmed with the sales agent that as long as we sign before the end of the month we will get the special rate and he confirmed we would.

On the 29th April we went and signed the contact at the special rate and paid the deposit. When signing the person the person did not go over the contract with us. She seemed very confused and just told us to sign which we did.

On the 7th May they phoned us back saying the price increased the day before (6th May) and now they want an extra 18k or they will not release the car. They are currently sitting with our deposit but refusing to give the car at the agreed upon price.

They say it is in the contract that they have the right to change the price but this was never pointed out to us when signing or even when I confirmed the price would be the same as long as we signed before the end of April.

We have been trying to fight this for 2 weeks now, with Chery dodging our calls and making us wait all this time just to say that it's not their problem.

Absolutely disgusted with the way this has turned out and shocked they think that this is OK!

In short, DO NOT BUY A CHERY CAR!
