My Experience with Chery Has Been The Worst
I am sharing my experience to caution anyone considering purchasing a Chery vehicle or relying on Chery Roodepoort for after-sales support.
Since buying my Chery Tiggo 4 in December 2024, I have faced constant and repeated problems with the car. Within days of delivery, the vehicle started displaying gearbox failure warnings, jerking, and loss of power. On multiple occasions, the car broke down on the road and had to be towed to different Chery dealerships, including Northcliff and Roodepoort.
Despite repeated visits and even the replacement of parts such as batteries, the same issues kept returning. From December 2024 through August 2025, I experienced breakdown after breakdown, sometimes late at night and even while traveling with my family — a situation that left us feeling unsafe and stranded.
What has made this ordeal worse is the lack of accountability and communication. My vehicle has been in and out of Chery Roodepoort for weeks at a time, and yet I have not received consistent updates, clear feedback, or a permanent solution to the problem. I have often had to call multiple times to ask for information, only to be promised updates that never came. At times, I discovered through my own tracking system that my car was driven around over weekends without any explanation or feedback provided to me.
As of now, my car has spent more time at the dealership than on the road, and I am still without a proper resolution.
Customers deserve reliable vehicles and honest, transparent service. My experience has been the opposite — full of breakdowns, delays, poor communication, and frustration. I strongly urge potential buyers to think carefully before committing to Chery, as the after-sales service and support I received have been deeply disappointing.
